Kimi Antonelli finished fourth, one place ahead of Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton. Russell started on pole here last year and came from nowhere to secure first place again. Verstappen, who crashed into Russell at the previous round in Spain, will join him on the front row.
Racing Bulls Formula One driver Isack Hadjar has been hit with a three-place grid penalty for the 2025 Canadian Grand Prix. After qualifying in ninth position, the French-Algerian driver will now start the race from 12th on the grid.
Carlos Sainz and home star Lance Stroll were both knocked out in that first period, the first being heavily impeded by Isack Hadjar on his final flying lap, which will almost certainly see the Racing Bulls star demoted three places.
