Air India flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 carrying 242 people, crashed after taking off from Ahmedabad on its way to London.

India’s aviation regulator DGCA has mandated enhanced safety inspections for Air India’s entire Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 fleet.

The aircraft exploded after colliding with a hostel building of a nearby medical college, killing several others on the ground in addition to passengers on board.
