By winning 2025 Women's Chess World Cup, India's 19-year-old rising star has got an entry to 2026 Candidates Tournament, the last qualification before Women’s World Championship.

Divya Deshmukh became the first Indian to clinch the FIDE Women's World Cup, defeating compatriot GM Koneru Humpy in the final at Batumi in Georgia on Monday. The 19-year-old International Master will be upgraded to the title of Grandmaster for winning the World Cup.

At just 19, Divya Deshmukh has made history by becoming the first Indian to win the FIDE Women’s World Cup. In an all-Indian final, she faced off against veteran player Koneru Humpy, who is nearly twice her age.
