Weather officials warned residents in several states to seek higher ground as a powerful storm system battered the Eastern United States

Cornett said the southern coalfields would get a break from the heavy rain as the system moved north but a second system is expected to come into the state between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday dumping more rain over the flooded areas.

The Clarksville-Montgomery County area is currently under a Flash Flood Warning until Saturday, at 12:15 p.m., while also having a Flood Watch remain in effect until noon tomorrow.
