There's going to be a lot going on this Flag Day, from protests to a papal speech to a military parade. Seven "No Kings" demonstrations are planned in Palm Beach County on June 14 as part of nationwide day of opposition to policies enacted by the Trump administration.
Most of the events in Sarasota and Manatee counties took place this morning, though the rally scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. at J.D. Hamel Park on Sarasota's bayfront is expected to draw the largest number of protesters.
More than 70 official rallies unfolded across Florida, including Miami, Miami Beach, Fort Lauderdale and the Florida Keys. The demonstrations, about 2,000 nationwide, hit the streets after a federal crackdown on protesters in Los Angeles who were marching in response to the nation’s new stringent immigration policies and ICE raids.
