A manhunt is underway for a suspect who officials say shot and killed Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband overnight.

A dedicated volunteer who taught Sunday school and loved dogs. A lawyer who served as a Girl Scout Leader and worked at her dad’s auto parts store. A mother and wife whose husband was killed alongside her.

Before Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman became a nationally recognized figure following her fatal shooting death alongside her husband Saturday morning — an act public officials have called an act of “political violence” — she was revered by colleagues as a dedicated public servant.

Law enforcement agents are continuing to search for the Minnesota man suspected of shooting two Democratic state lawmakers early Saturday morning in what officials have described as "politically motivated" attacks.
