Throughout Auburn’s three losses to Texas and its 1-0 midweek win over Georgia Tech, one glaring problem was the inability to take advantage of opportunities with runners on base.

Mississippi State took the bats with them on a road trip to face No. 11 Auburn with a chance of getting some momentum at the end of the season. In a series with 52 total runs scored (the Tigers had a 27-25 edge there) both teams were running thin on pitching Sunday.

On Saturday night, the No. 11 Auburn Tigers managed to score more runs than in their 6-5 Friday night game one win over Mississippi State. The bad news is they gave up a lot more runs in a 12-7 loss to tie the weekend series at 1-1. The Tigers entered the seventh inning down 10-3 and attempted to rally for a comeback. It fell short though.
