Ohio Republican lawmakers have introduced a bill to reform their state’s marijuana laws, increasing taxes on the substance and limiting personal cultivation.

Senate Bill 56 increases the excise tax on adult-use marijuana to 15% and makes other major changes to the voter-approved law.

OHIO — A local state senator has introduced a bill that could make major changes to Ohio’s adult-use marijuana law. Ohio Senator Stephen Huffman (R-Tipp City) introduced Senate Bill 56 on Jan. 28. If the bill passes, it would change several aspects of the law, including the number of plants a person can grow in a household, taxes and THC potencies.
