Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez each scored for Chelsea, and Liam Delap had an assist in his debut, as the Blues defeated LAFC 2-0 in the Club World Cup opener for both teams. It was Delap's first game for Chelsea after completing a £30 million transfer from Ipswich Town.

LAFC almost got one back just before the 60-minute mark, but Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez came up with an important save to keep Denis Bouanga off the scoresheet.
