Two people in the North Bay died over the past two days as a result of the recent storm, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.

Sonoma County's emergency responders had a busy cleanup day after the storm. Tuesday's heavy rainfall led to flooded roads, mud and landslides and water rescues.

Evacuation orders were still in effect on Wednesday afternoon for the low-lying areas of the Russian River for 34 miles all the way from Healdsburg to Jenner on the Pacific. People under the 36-foot level were ordered to evacuate but many folks did not according to one knowledgeable source.

The Russian River in Sonoma Couty reached moderate flood stage Wednesday and was expected to peak. People in low-lying areas were told to evacuate last night, but some residents have stayed put and are now stuck in their homes waiting for the water to subside.

Flooding coupled with saturated soils and landslides triggered by Tuesday’s drenching rain, has caused multiple road closures across the region.

The NWS San Francisco CA issued a flood warning at 11:10 p.m. on Monday in effect until Wednesday at 10 p.m. The NWS states, "Urban areas and small streams flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected for central Sonoma county."

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday evening issued an evacuation order for low lying areas along the Russian River, the office announced just before 6 p.m.
