According to the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 7, 87% of Grand Junction workers in the meat and retail district voted yes to authorize the strike after Safeway and Albertsons failed to meet their needs. The union said workers are standing together for better wages, fair scheduling and safe workplaces.

Colorado Safeway employees will began a limited strike at stores in Estes Park, Fountain, and Pueblo Sunday after contract negotiations with Albertsons Companies, Inc. stalled.
