A major winter storm will hit the Midwest and Northeast this weekend, bringing heavy snow, strong winds, and hazardous roads.
More than 1,400 flights traveling to, from or within the U.S. were delayed as of midday Friday, according to flight tracking website FlightAware, with 24 flights canceled.
The Northern Lights may be visible in the U.S. this week, following a geomagnetic storm forecast by space weather experts at NOAA.

The Storm Prediction Center has introduced a marginal risk (green) - threat level 1 out of 5 - for all of central Alabama. We aren’t expecting a significant threat for severe storms.
