The University of Connecticut announced they are cancelling this year’s First Night basketball event at Gampel Pavilion. UConn said the celebration – which is set to take place in October – won’t happen due to ongoing renovations at Gampel Pavilion.

UConn’s annual ‘First Night’ festivities to kick off the men’s and women’s basketball seasons will not take place ahead of the 2025-26 season due to renovations.

Former New York Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau stopped by practice UConn men’s basketball practice over the weekend. Thibodeau, a Connecticut native, was seen on the sideline with UConn coach Dan Hurley in photos shared by the UConn men’s basketball social media accounts with the caption on X, “Thanks for stopping by, Coach.”

The UConn unofficial scholarship chart is a guide for Huskies fans as it displays the roster by year, position and how much eligibility each athlete has remaining. Something new with this year’s chart is that the NCAA is Implementing a strict 15 roster spot limit for each basketball program and that will include walk-ons as well.

The two became the third and fourth former UConn women’s basketball players to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, joining Swin Cash (Class of 2022) and Rebecca Lobo (2017). Huskies’ head coach Geno Auriemma was inducted in 2006.
