The UConn women's basketball team rose to No. 1 in the Associated Press poll for the first time on Jan. 17, 1995. A day later, the Huskies rolled past Boston College at Conte Forum for their first win as the top-ranked team. No one has been No. 1 more weeks than UConn. No one has won more games as the No. 1 team than the Huskies.
As for Texas and South Carolina: Despite beating UCLA early in the season, the Longhorns have played a less challenging schedule thus far and have fewer quality wins.
