According to the Department of Public Safety (DPS) Capitol Region, they identified a credible threat toward state lawmakers planning to attend a protest at the Texas State Capitol Complex Saturday afternoon. This follows the shooting of two lawmakers in Minnesota early Saturday morning.
Ewing, 18, pleaded guilty in the 2024 Wilmer-Hutchins high school shooting and was sentenced to five years in prison.
The arrest came after two Democratic lawmakers and their spouses were shot in Minnesota early Saturday, the same day anti-Trump "No Kings' protests were held nationwide.
The Texas Department of Public Safety warned state lawmakers about threats targeting legislators attending an anti-Trump rally in Austin. This followed a shooting in Minnesota that targetted two lawmakers.
