The three-story townhouse at 828 Burgundy St. in the French Quarter is a more than 170 years old, a prime example of antebellum dwelling in the Vieux Carré.

The RISD Museum highlights the fragile beauty and striking designs of centuries-old examples of wallpaper from the collection of a French-American couple, purchased in 1934.

In 2021, the designer, who splits his time between San Francisco, New York and Provincetown, Mass., jumped at the chance to buy and restore two homes built in the 1800s in the city’s French Quarter.
