A newly released video shows Alex Pretti confronting federal officers on a Minneapolis street 11 days before he was fatally shot in another encounter with CBP agents, a Pretti family representative confirmed to CBS News.

Donald Trump on Friday called Alex Pretti an "agitator and, perhaps, insurrectionist," marking an increase in the intensity of his rhetoric toward the ICU nurse fatally shot by federal agents after the president recently said he wanted to "de-escalate a little bit" in Minnesota.

Between Jan. 24 and Jan. 29, Trump officials' statements evolved in a case that has become a major political liability for the president.

Trump posted his comments on the Veteran’s Affairs hospital ICU nurse early Friday. “Alex Pretti’s stock has gone way down with the just released video of him screaming and spitting in the face of a very calm and under control ICE Officer,” he wrote.

A group of hundreds, many of them nurses still wearing badges after walking from their nearby hospitals, performed a Nightingale Tribute — a traditional send off for nurses — for Pretti, who was killed Saturday by immigration enforcement agents in Minneapolis.

"He literally just had his whole life ahead of him when this tragic event happened," Dr. Aasma Shaukat told Newsweek.

Donald Trump has appeared to undermine Second Amendment rights in statements about Alex Pretti’s killing. Many in the firearms community are going along with it.

The Washington Post has reported that VA officials in Washington also initially blocked Minneapolis hospital employees from holding a memorial for Pretti, though that decision was later reversed.
