RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Brazil’s former President Jair Bolsonaro will wear an electronic ankle monitor on orders from the Supreme Court, where he is on trial for allegedly masterminding a coup plot to remain in office despite his defeat in the 2022 election.

The president typically ties his tariffs to trade policy, but he hit Brazilian products with the highest rate of any country's goods largely due to politics.

The Treasury Department said it was freezing U.S. assets belonging to Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, accusing him of undermining freedom of expression.
