The 2025 College World Series continued on Sunday, featuring two important clashes in Bracket 1. In the first matchup, Louisville eliminated Arizona from the tournament with an impressive 8-3 victory in Omaha. No. 13 Coastal Carolina is also set to take on No. 8 Oregon State as both teams attempt to remain in the winner's bracket.
Zion Rose dropped in an opposite field single down the right-field line to drive in Jake Munroe and Eddie King Jr. to give Louisville a 4-3 lead in the eighth inning. Munroe led off the eighth by reaching on an error by Arizona shortstop Mason White. King and Tague Davis followed with consecutive singles, setting up Rose's RBI hit.
Louisville not only avoids going 0-2 in the College World Series for the third time in six all-time trips, they also complete season sweep over Arizona. The Cardinals previously took down the Wildcats, 13-1 in eight innings, back on Feb. 16 down in Arlington, Texas for the Shriners Children's College Classic.
Davis went from starring as a two-way player at Malvern Prep to setting the home run freshman record at Louisville. His next stop: A trip to Omaha to compete in the College World Series.
Arkansas opened a 7-1 lead with a five-run fourth inning. Logan Maxwell hit a grand slam off AJ Russell, the Vols' third pitcher of the inning. The Razorbacks loaded the bases on singles by Cam Kozeal and Reese Robinett, followed by an intentional walk to Charles Davalan to set up a force play.
