The New England Patriots kicked off mandatory minicamp in Foxboro on Monday, and the theme of the day was energy.

FOXBORO – Patriots quarterback Drake Maye continues to show progress during the team’s spring practices, and he’s not taking the easy way out. Maye, who was 14-of-18 during 11-on-11 drills Monday during Day 1 of Patriots minicamp, isn’t shying away from throwing at cornerbacks Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis.

Welcome to the end of the beginning. The Patriots’ mandatory minicamp will open Monday, with all players expected to report for the team’s final three practices this spring. The Pats will hit the field for three straight days, then take a five-week break before returning for the start of training camp in late July.
