San Francisco general manager John Lynch denies using a phrase that offended Davante Adams while speaking to his agent during free agency talks.

Davante Adams signed with the Rams, but, according to the star wide receiver, the 49ers also had interest after his release from the Jets.

However, the 49ers' interest in Adams wasn't nearly as compelling as what the Rams could offer. Adams told The Athletic 's Michael Silver that his agent told him the 49ers were offering "wholesale" money, meaning they wanted to sign him at a discounted rate.
