The Met Office has issued a rare amber warning for rain, which will affect 14 areas. The forecaster warned that "fast flowing or deep floodwater is likely, causing danger to life" due to the upcoming storm.

A fresh amber weather warning for heavy rain has been issued by the Met Office - with much of the UK already on alert for high winds and showers. Northern Ireland, Scotland and the UK's west coast and the Midlands have yellow warnings for wind on Sunday - meaning the possibility of transport delays and short-term power cuts.

An amber warning for heavy rain has been issued by the Met Office for parts of Wales on Sunday and Monday, February 23-24. Most areas of the country are likely to see downpours today and an existing yellow alert for rain was this morning extended north to cover much of Powys and parts of Ceredigion.

The wet and windy conditions began to arrive in the early hours of Sunday morning, with two yellow weather warnings for wind in place for parts of the UK.

The warning will come into effect between 3.00am and 3.00pm. The Met Office says southerly winds are expected to peak late morning to early afternoon with gusts of 50-60mph, and perhaps as much as 70mph on the exposed Irish Sea coastline and some other areas of high ground.
