The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Rhode Island and other parts of Southern New England.
A heat advisory will be in effect from noon to 8 p.m. from the Hudson Valley up to Warren and Washington counties and into the Mohawk Valley. These conditions are expected to continue through Wednesday, when a cold front is forecast to begin to cross the region, bringing isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms.
Residents across the Garden State will face excessive heat through Wednesday, according to the NWS. A Heat Advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. Wednesday. Forecasters anticipate "feels like" temperatures, or heat indices, will soar to 104 degrees.
Charlotte faces a heat advisory with the potential for severe thunderstorms and high heat index values; residents are advised to take precautions against heat illnesses.
