Apr 12, 2001 · With these tools now malfunctioning in macOS 15.2, SuperDuper and potentially other backup utilities are unable to create complete bootable backups. Dec 17, 2024 · Reliable, bootable backups with SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner have been a very mixed bag according to what I’ve read about the subject. In my own case with my M1 Studio Max it has never worked. I select the SuperDuper clone for the startup disk, it begins and after ten seconds or so it fails. Other posters here report the same.
Status of SuperDuper! and Big Sur - MacRumors Forums
Sep 14, 2020 · Given that SuperDuper! is just one of my 5 critical applications that is not yet compatible with Big Sur, I have no problem waiting. Even if all those apps were compatible with the initial release, it would still not be a wise move to move/upgrade to Big Sur right away, as the article so correctly points out:

BTW if your Mac originally came with Mavericks, you don't need the recovery partition, because using Cmd+R for internet recovery will always clean install Mavericks!
Why I now prefer SuperDuper over Carbon Copy Cloner.
Oct 31, 2016 · Been using SuperDuper! reliably for years, and it has always performed as advertised. Takes less time now that I have SSDs both inside the machine it is cloning/copying from, and to the external device it is writing to. And this is via USB 3.1. Also SuperDuper! has not been updated for Catalina.

Jul 20, 2001 · I use TimeMachine for continual backups. I have used SuperDuper for years to make an extra copy that I update periodically and store off-site. I gave up on bootable a couple of years ago. Not a big deal for me since I don't need a solution for "restore immediately" as one might need in a mission critical situation.
