The King’s Speech: "Proceed with the introduction of Digital ID.”And there it is. A lame duck and massively unpopular Prime Minister trying to ram through digital ID. No one voted for this illiberal and Orwellian digital control by the Labour government.

Sir Trevor Phillips proving once again that he’s one of the most balanced and fair minded commentators around. He has the courage to call out his own side:“Frankly if you want people to vote for you, I don't think that the best way is to start by telling them that the guys they've just voted for are stupid and racist… And then we wonder why they hate us.”

Britain is a place where a Prime Minister who has lost his authority and who everyone hates is trying to ram through legislation (outlined in the King’s Speech) on something that no one voted for, no one needs and no one wants - digital ID. Absolutely disgraceful abuse of power.

Pleased to share we're progressing with work on key South Island roading resilience projects, including the Epitaph Slip on State Highway 6. This project has had its investment case endorsed by NZTA, as well as $7 million in funding approved to progress detailed design and consenting. The recommended approach to strengthen the site (near Knights Point) is to realign the road inland away from the cliff edge, remove unstable material above the road and bench cut the rockface to improve stability.

An early morning start to head up to Whanganui Airport, to help officially open the eastern end of the sealed taxiway. This will improve safety for passengers and aircraft, reduce aircraft congestion and improve resilience by providing an all-weather replacement for the grass taxiways. The taxiway also strengthens the role of Whanganui as a regional hub for medical flights, pilot training, and general aviation; and well positions the area for future aviation growth. I’d like to acknowledge local

You have until November 26 to do your part for conservation, and help reduce wild goat numbers, while going in the draw to win $70,000 worth of prizes. We’re reviewing how often you need a Warrant of Fitness, to bring our rules in line with other countries around the world, and to reduce costs for Kiwis. Currently, New Zealand has one of the most frequent regimes globally, and we want to make sure we aren’t placing unnecessary costs of time pressures on people, while still keeping everyone safe on the road. This is a commonsense opportunity to modernise our country’s vehicle inspection approach, and bring it into the 21st century. | James Meage

When I had the privilege of taking part in the European Union Visitors Programme in July (in my capacity as Rangitata MP), I recorded this video sharing how New Zealand helps combat political polarisation, and practices diplomacy, through our shared love of sport. This has just been shown to attendees at EU Parliamentary Democracy Forum, underway at the European Parliament in Brussels currently. Thank you again to the Visitors Programme for providing me this once-in-a-lifetime educational and wo

A record-breaking cruise ship season is officially underway in Timaru. 🚢 The first ship arrives today. One of 14 scheduled for the Riviera of the South this summer. This will bring thousands of visitors to our city’s cafes, shops, and attractions, supporting local jobs and boosting the local economy. Timaru is the only place in New Zealand which is growing its cruise numbers this season. A real vote of confidence in the Rangitata electorate and all we have to offer. | James Meager MP

The rain couldn’t put a dampener on celebrations in Whakatāne, where Air New Zealand & Air Chathams have officially signed their interline agreement. This partnership means people can book a single ticket for trips involving both airlines, starting with flights between Whakatāne and Auckland. Bags will also be checked through to the final destination. I believe this has the potential to be a game changer for regional travel and connectivity, which is why our Government confirmed support for inte
