Yes, the picture yesterday was indeed a Britten-Norman Islander. This one was operated by Aer Arann on flights from Connemara in Eire to the Aran Isles just off the west coast. 60 years ago today, at Bembridge on the Isle of Wight, the first of over 1280 BN- 2 Islanders, G-ATCT , took to the sky. The little aeroplane was designed as a Dove replacement and was sold all over the world. Production would move over the years to Romania and Belgium but is now back at the Islander's spiritual home of B
