These are young Buddhist Novice Monks working with our participants in Luang Prabang, Laos. Novice Monks are young males, generally between the ages of eight and twenty, who join the temple. Some stay for a few days, some stay for 12 years, while others go on to be ordained as Monks. Many young Lao males join the temple as it is considered a great honor and is believed to bring merit to both themselves and their families.
