The game would become known as “Bo Over The Top” for Auburn freshman sensation Bo Jackson’s touchdown that proved to be the deciding factor in the game. Auburn was in the middle of a 9 year losing streak versus Alabama. The last time Auburn had defeated Alabama was in 1972, when Auburn beat Alabama by a 17–16 score in one of the rivalry's most famous games.
